Is it you, or is it the clubs?

An hour and a half, your own driver, your own 7-iron and your own wedges. We measure what you are already playing — shaft, flex, length, lie and grip thickness — and tell you whether the set-up is helping your swing or quietly fighting it. There is no sales pitch at the end of it.

Who it is for

Book a club assessment if…

You hit your own driver, 7-iron and wedges, and we check what you are already playing: shaft, shaft flex, length, lie and grip thickness. The cheapest way to find out whether you need new clubs at all — and there is no sales pitch at the end of it.

  • You are not sure a fitting is worth it This is the session that answers that question. If the clubs in your bag are right for you, you will be told so and you will have spent five hundred rand instead of five thousand.
  • The clubs were bought off a shelf Standard specs are built for an average golfer nobody has ever met. An hour and a half tells you how far your own set sits from where it should be.
  • You inherited a set, or bought it used Second-hand clubs are fitted to whoever owned them first. This is how you find out whose swing yours suit.
  • Something feels wrong and you cannot name it Grip thickness and shaft flex are the two most common culprits, and the two nobody ever checks.
Step by step

Three steps, and no sales pitch

Bring the driver, the 7-iron and the wedges you actually play. Everything else follows from those clubs.

You hit your own clubs

Driver, 7-iron and wedges, with enough shots on TrackMan for the numbers to settle — so what we read afterwards is your normal delivery rather than one swing. The middle iron shows strike and turf interaction; the wedges show what your spin is really doing.

We measure the five things that matter

Shaft and shaft flex against your speed and transition. Length and lie, read together on a lie board, because length changes lie. And grip thickness — the part of the club you actually hold, the cheapest thing on the list to fix, and the one nobody ever checks.

You get a plain answer

Leave it alone, an hour on the bench, or a proper fitting. Nobody here works on commission and no brand pays for shelf space, so if the clubs in your bag are already right, that is what you will be told. The numbers are yours either way.

What usually happens next

Most of what an assessment finds is a bench job, not a purchase.

A club that is a degree flat, half an inch short or wearing a grip two sizes too thin does not need replacing. It needs an hour in the workshop, and these are the prices on the wall.

What gets measured

The numbers behind the recommendation.

Every session runs on TrackMan 4 with Optically Enhanced Radar Tracking. These are the parameters the decision is built on, and they are yours whatever you decide to do next.

A TrackMan shot analysis screen at Golf Concepts: a 7-iron carrying 167 metres, with club speed, ball speed, spin rate, launch angle, smash factor and dispersion
A 7-iron, off the screen in the studio 28 Aug 2026 · carry 167 m · ball speed 119.2 mph · smash 1.42
Club speed
How fast the head is travelling. Everything else is scaled to it.
Ball speed
The energy that actually got into the ball.
Smash factor
Ball speed divided by club speed — a direct readout of strike quality.
Launch angle
The angle the ball leaves at, set by loft and delivery together.
Spin rate
What keeps the ball up, and what makes it climb and stall when there is too much.
Dynamic lie
The lie angle at impact, not at address — the one that decides start direction.
Impact height
Where on the face you struck it, in millimetres.
Impact offset
How far towards heel or toe the strike sat.
Carry and total
Where it lands, and where it finishes.

Questions

Before you book.

Do I have to buy clubs at the end of it?

No. The session is paid for on its own and the numbers are yours to keep. If the honest answer is that the clubs in your bag are already right for you, that is the answer you will get.

What should I bring?

The clubs you play now, and a golf glove and shoes if you have them. Measuring your current set is how we prove whether anything actually improved.

I am a beginner. Is this wasted on me?

It is the opposite. A beginner learning on clubs that are the wrong length and lie spends years building a swing that compensates for the equipment.

Which brands can you fit me into?

10 of them — Mizuno, Srixon, Cleveland, XXIO, Ping, GG Putters, TaylorMade, Cobra, Titleist, Callaway. The studio is brand-agnostic, so the recommendation follows your numbers rather than a stockroom.

How do I book, and what about availability?

Pick a time in the live diary on the booking page and the slot is yours straight away — the diary is Danie's own, so a time you can see is a time he has. If you would rather talk it through first, message him on 082 776 6750 or email danie@golfconcepts.co.za.
